Designed as part of the national Woolworths Cricket Blast program, it introduces children to the game in a friendly, inclusive, and active environment. With a focus on fun, teamwork, and learning new skills, it’s the ideal first step in any young player’s cricket journey.

Woolworths Cricket Blast is Cricket Australia’s introductory program designed to help young children learn cricket through fun, game-based activities in a safe and inclusive environment.

Cricket Blast is ideal for children aged 5–9 years, whether they are new to cricket or have had limited exposure to the game.

No experience is required. Cricket Blast is designed for complete beginners, focusing on learning through play and enjoyment.

The program typically runs during the cricket season from October to March, including a break over school holidays with sessions held weekly.

The sessions run 5-6pm Friday afternoons Nov-Dec and in February.

Sessions are held at Macleay Park, North Balwyn, using modified pitches and safe playing areas suitable for young children.

Each session runs for 60 minutes, keeping activities engaging and age-appropriate.

All equipment is provided, including plastic bats, soft balls, and markers, so children just need to turn up ready to play.

Children should wear comfortable sports clothing, runners, and a hat. Cricket Blast shirts are often included as part of registration.
